The Peter Gruber International Academy (PGIA) Varsity Soccer Team is delighted to be participating in the Las Vegas Mayor's Cup and International Showcase.  There are over 600 teams from 70 countries/5 continents at the event.  In addition, over 400 college coaches will be in attendance.  The Volts will play a friendly match vs. Preston Lodge School (Scotland) on Thursday night before starting tournament play on Saturday.  They will have up to 5 games in three days against teams from across the United States and around the world.  International schools and amateur/professional clubs are represented, including a youth team from Borussia Monchengladbach, a team in the German Bundesliga.  The Volts, defending I-AA Champions, are looking forward to the opportunity for growth provided by a tournament of this caliber.  They are thankful for all the community members who bought t-shirts and water to support their fundraising efforts.

First Place VOLTS - Undefeated Season JV Girls!

Huge kudos to our JV Volts Girls Volleyball team for taking the title with an undefeated 8 and 0 season.  These Volts started strong and stayed strong.

Huge congratulations to our 2017 girls volleyball teams.  Briefly, our JV girls team went undefeated 8-0. They won the JV league with that perfect record. Our Varsity girls team took 4th place in the league with a record of 4-4.  Great job ladies and way to work.

I would like to thank Coach Ivan Figueroa, Coach Nalani Figueroa and Coach Ronald Blyden for their efforts this season.  VIMSIA could not have executed this successful season without your hard work and dedication.  VIMSIA's volleyball program has come along quite well.  I see nothing but success at the varsity level in the very near future.  The foundation our past teams have laid will be built upon and VIMSIA will soon claim the girls varsity volleyball championship too.

GO VOLTS!

Volts: JV Boys Tied for 1st

The JV boys volleyball team and Coach Mitch Gibbs finished their regular season on Wednesday with a win over Antilles.  They went three sets and were down 8-11 in that third set to 15, to come back and win!  That is a tough position to recover from - GRIT!  Way to go gentlemen!

Their only loss this season was to CAHS.  They will have a playoff game with CAHS later this month for first place.

Kudos Coach Gibbs and his Volts!

Volts Volleyball - JV Boys Undefeated

A quick update from Coach Gibbs on the stellar performance of our JV boys volleyball players so far this season.

So far this year we have beaten Eudora Kean twice, CAHS (last years champs) once, and BCB once. Each match is a best of three "sets".   We lost our first set to Eudora Kean, but won the next two, to win the match. We have not lost a set since and are undefeated...so far.....in the league! We play all teams once more, and Antilles twice, but so far...we are the team to beat!

Proud of these boys!

Coach Mitch Gibbs

Montessori Elementary Soccer - STT/STJ Champs - 5 Years Running!

Montessori's Elementary Soccer Team took first place for St. Thomas St. John, yet again!  This will be the Volts' 5th consecutive reign as champs. The final match went 3-0 against Antilles School on Tuesday, May 24.  Chris Griffith was chosen by his teammates as MVP for Tuesday's match.

Señor Araujo - no surprise and well-deserved - was honored as Coach of the Year!

Volts History in the Making - Tomorrow!

The CAHS win over Kean yesterday puts CAHS and Volts in a playoff for the IAA St Thomas/St John Soccer Varsity Championship.  They will play Charlotte Amalie HS tomorrow, Thursday May 19th at 4:30pm on the Eudora Kean HS Soccer Field.

This will be a great matchup as our Varsity Volts Soccer Team will be fighting for their first ever championship!  Please consider bringing your student athlete to this event as it will motivate them to seek the same championship when they are at the Varsity level here at VIMSIA.

Thank you for your support of the VIMSIA athletic program.

GO VOLTS!

First Year Volt Basketball Team Epitomizes "True Grit"

In our first year for girls' varsity basketball, these Volts showed guts, determination and a wonderful sense of humor, as they took on the 'CANES at Antilles yesterday!

Due to team injuries/illness, with Germaine and Isa on the bench for support, we began with only four players, (no substitutes on the bench!), against their fully stocked team of five on the court, (and as many on the bench). Nalani, who was playing a fantastic game, was taken down by a block by Antilles defense as she was taking a shot, and sadly her fall, reinjured her knee and she was out for the rest of the game. The team of 3 soldiered on, with a ratio of 3 to 5 players on court, and Radiance, Daicya and Maya excelled in stopping Antilles from driving up their score, with incredible defense, and managed to run the ball down for another goal by Radiance.

We may not have earned the title of the 'Little Team That Could', but our girls Varsity basketball team certainly encapsulated all the IB principles; of focus, persistence, courage, ethical behavior, and great humor and sports womanship- even when Radiance was fallen on by the opposition, she laughed through almost crying! Maya was a spitfire running the court, always being under the hoop to take on the opposition's shooter, and Daicya, the epitome of fearless and 'island- tough', made it known to the opposition that she was ready to take on anyone with the ball. This is a team that has come from nothing in their first season. Kudos to All: Coach JD, Captain- Germaine, Radiance, Isa, Daycia, Nalani, Maya and Kobe! Go VOLTS!!!

Volts Basketball: Varsity Boys Bring Home Win Over GifFt Hill

The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats Wednesday evening as the VOLTS Varsity Boy's  team  brought home their first win, 40 - 33 over Gifft Hill.  Demonstrating grit throughout the game the VOLTS never let up.

“The guys are really coming together as a team and learning what it takes to be successful. This first win was the result of that hard work paying off. We were able to maintain our poise and make it even though it was a close, tense game.

Hopefully we can continue to grow and get better as the season goes on.
— Coach Stocking

Spotlight: Grant Farrell & Axel Bartsch

The USVI Department of Sports, Parks & Recreation held their 1st Annual Children’s Recognition Awards Ceremony at Government House October 30, 2015.  Seventy-three athletes who participated in non-scholastic sports programs and camps were recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship and conduct.  PGIA students Grant Farrell and Axel Bartsch earned awards for their positive teamwork with LaRaza VI soccer club.

Kudos to Grant and Axel - who have been excelling in athletics and amazing ambassadors of good  sportsmanship since they put on their first soccer shoes with Señor in Primary.  We are so proud of you both!
