Dallas Broomes Wins Ukraine Letter Writing Contest.
/PGIA senior Chase Rosenthal sponsored a writing contest to award a range of prizes ($100, $50, $25) for the best letter written to the People of Ukraine in response to the Russian invasion. “After seeing what is happening in Ukraine, I was thinking about what I could do and I've decided to hold a competition,” Chase said in an email to the school.
Dallas Broomes, 9th grade, took the top prize with his entry below.
Greetings, Citizens of Ukraine!
I have heard of the dire straits that your country is facing. I am writing this letter to let you all know that the entire world is behind you. Across the world, everyday citizens are outraged at the atrocities that Russia is committing against your country. They understand the magnitude of these actions and stand in solidarity with you.
Your country is a model to the world that corruption and the dictatorial rule that Russia exhibits starkly contrast everything the world has worked to build. Every free thought, every action resulting from free will, is attacked along with Ukraine. This vile treatment that the Ukrainian people suffer every day is unjust in every way. This violation of your people is not unnoticed. We all know of the horrible treatment that you all are facing, and understand that the situation is serious. However, this invasion is not without great resistance by your people. Your resistance to this unparalleled tyranny sends a message to Russia that the world will no longer tolerate these foul and abhorrent actions that the Russian government is so willingly participating in. It also shows that the invasion of a country that is not deserving of such an action will not win against the well-willed people of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people stand strong in the face of this clear tyranny. The world believes that your people will continue to stand strong.
Best wishes,
Dallas Broomes
