4th & 5th Grade Elementary Teacher (August 2026)

The Virgin Island Montessori School is actively seeking enthusiastic Elementary Teachers to work in our Grade 4 & 5 classrooms, with specific focus on math, science, language and/or history. Educators should have some knowledge of or interest in Montessori methodologies, as well as student-centered teaching philosophies. Additional familiarity with the International Baccalaureate program is a bonus. The grade 4 & 5 classrooms specifically prepare our young scholars for success in middle school, high school and beyond.

This is a wonderful opportunity for passionate educators who are excited about building relationships with children, parents, and colleagues in a caring community where growth is valued and encouraged. Our school is celebrating 60+ years of offering Montessori and IB education to youth on the islands of STT/STJ. We are proud of both our history and culture!

We are seeking candidates who have the ability to teach to a diverse set of learners (i.e. culture, ethnicity, race, neurodiversity). Educators should demonstrate grace, patience and excellent observational and communication skills. We need someone who is organized, a multitasker, keeps calm under pressure, and treats everyone with love and respect. We are a community of dedicated educators, professionals, and community members. We are especially interested in individuals looking to stay with our school for multiple years to learn and grow along with us.

Requirements are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood teaching, education, or a related discipline

  • Elementary teaching experience

  • US Citizenship or current US Visa

  • Availability to start teaching in August 2026

  • Desire to be part of a tight-knit team who supports each other

  • Willingness to participate in Professional Development trainings

Job Type: Full-time (10 months, paid over 12 months)
Starting Pay: $50,000 - $65,000 per year

Lower Elementary Guide (August 2026)

The Virgin Island Montessori School is seeking an AMI or AMS trained Lower Elementary Guide to lead one of two Elementary classrooms on our beautiful campus on St. Thomas. This is a wonderful opportunity for a passionate Montessorian excited about building relationships with children, parents, and colleagues in a caring community where growth is valued and encouraged. Our school is celebrating its 61st year of offering AMI and IB education to youth on the island of St. Thomas. We are proud of both our history and culture!

Substitute Montessori Classroom Assistants

VIMSIA is looking for substitute Montessori classroom assistants for all levels, Toddler through Upper Elementary.

  • Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent and the ability to work in the US Virgin Islands.

  • CPR Certification and Food Handlers Card are not required, but are a plus!

  • English/Spanish fluency preferred

At the Primary level, we are an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) school. Lead Primary and Elementary teachers (Primary, Lower, and Upper Elementary) must be AMI-certified. We review AMI-certified resumes year-round.

Peter Gruber International Academy (PGIA): Grades 6 – 12

PGIA teachers guide students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. Our curriculum follows the IB MYP (grades 6–10) and IB DP (grades 11–12). VIMSIA is proud to be the first and only IB World School in the U.S. Virgin Islands, authorized for the Diploma Programme in 2009 and the Middle Years Programme in 2010.

We welcome resumes from experienced Middle and High School teachers across all disciplines, preferably with at least one year of teaching experience. IB experience is a plus, but we can provide training for qualified candidates. Resumes are reviewed year-round.
