Ms. Elger is hosting a parent night for PGIA parents to discuss the college search process. Below is her email to parents detailing the evening's focus.
I hope this finds you well. I will be hosting a parent night for you on Thursday, December 10 from 5:30-6:30pm in the Science Pod. We will be discussing the college search process, specifically how it can be enhanced with the powerful tool that is Naviance. Bring your laptop! "Naviance is a comprehensive college and career readiness solution for middle and high schools that helps align student strengths and interests to post-secondary goals, and improve student outcomes" (naviance.com). Your student(s) has been introduced to the student-side of Naviance and has been assigned tasks to complete (career interest, personality, and college search surveys). These are due in April, but I figured they could get started over winter break!
Naviance also has a parent portal. Your increased understanding of Naviance will only benefit your student and you as we progress through the college application process. I will be distributing parent log-in information at our meeting, so you, your student, and I can all be on the same page.
I understand this is a busy season for all of us. If you cannot attend, please email me directly, and I will send you the PowerPoint and your log-in information.
Thank you for sending your child to the best school on St. Thomas. I consider it an honor to be a part of your family's college search and application process. If you have any questions, please contact me.
