About the Middle Years Programme (MYP)

VIMSIA’s Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a five-year, skill-based journey that begins in Year 1 (Grade 6) and encourages students to think critically, reflect deeply, and stay curious. Students explore eight equally important subjects — English, Spanish, Individuals & Societies, Science, Mathematics, Arts, Physical Education, and Technology — while also taking part in Service Learning projects that connect classroom lessons to real-world experiences.

Classes are built around big, inquiry-based questions, helping students discover meaning through exploration and discussion. Throughout the year, they complete smaller assignments and quizzes to prepare for creative, in-depth projects that showcase their learning.

The MYP also includes a VOLT class, where students build strong study skills and healthy habits, along with enrichment opportunities like Organic Gardening, Virgin Islands Culture, and the Eco-Store. Altogether, the MYP provides a balanced, engaging education that prepares students to participate thoughtfully and confidently in the modern world.
