Grades 4/5 for Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, Montessori 4/5th grade have been studying black artists, their styles, and purposes behind the art. Students chose an artist to emulate and created a piece of their own and today and tomorrow they are showcasing their work to our community with an Art Gallery.

Here are a few pieces by students including 5th Grader Dean Ritter, 5th Grader Lena Mancuso and 4th Grader Crystin Pilgrim inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Charles Henry Alston and Njideka Akunyili Crosby.

Each student added a reflection to explain their purpose and inspiration for the art. A special moment occurred when the 6th grade class came to validate their younger peer’s work.

Congratulations to all Montessori 4th/5th Grade students on this meaningful work!
