Athletics Season Ends With Wins and a Championship

CHAMPIONS!

Soccer season culminated yesterday on the home pitch against the second-placed Antilles Gray team, with the title on the line in the case of a VIMSIA loss. The game started slowly, with our side falling behind 2-0. However, the VIMSIA Elementary team came back with 2 goals before the first half to level the game. After going back and forth in the second half, ultimately we fought off numerous goal attempts and finished the game tied 2-2, good enough to secure the IAA elementary championship!

Congratulations to Señor Araujo and the Elementary soccer team for winning the league championship and for finishing the season undefeated!

Meanwhile, the Varsity team finished up their 2023 campaign yesterday at Eudora Kean soccer field with a clash with our rival Antilles soccer team. The VIMSIA team scored quickly to make it a 1-0 game, while they kept the pressure on Antilles throughout to go into halftime with a one-goal lead. Antilles struck back quickly to tie the game before we answered to regain the lead 2-1. VIMSIA and Antilles countered with goals late in the game, but by that time the match was in hand with the Volts coming out on top 3-2!

A big thanks to Coach Vernon Araujo and the entire Varsity team for finishing the season with a big win!
